Pinions and bearings play an important role in the successive operation and cost reduction of rod mill. Now we specially analyze these problems in order to find out pertinent measures.

1. Monitor the sinkage of the foundation.

Because there exist flatness and parallelism errors in the installation stage, and after put into use, the foundation of rod mill will sink, so we should regularly measure the sinkage of the foundation.

•When the foundation sinks slightly, we can add gaskets to it and eliminate the influence of foundation sinking by adjusting the thickness of the gaskets.

•When the foundation sinks excessively, we should cast the base anew.

2. Prestress the foundation bolts.

Timely check the foundation bolts on the bases of the electric motor and small gear. If loose, fasten them in time; If serious, we should stop immediately and re-calibrate the transmission system.

3. Regularly check the working condition of the gear pair and bearing.

It is mainly to check if there appear abnormal sound, unsmooth rotation and abnormal bearing temperature.

4. Timely inspect the fastening condition of the plate and remove foreign matters.

When there are foreign bodies in the gear pair, we should clear up them first and then check the fastening condition of the lining board. Regularly clean the mortar and greasy dirt in the tooth root and wash the mating surface of big and small gears.

5. Properly lubricate the gear pair.

The old rod mill adopts an intermittent lubrication way. While the transmission gears of the new type rod mill adopts an automatic spray lubrication device, effectively reducing workers' labor intensity, improving the lubricating condition and extending gear's service life.

6. Strengthen the management of equipment.

Strengthen the professional training on equipment, promote worker's operation skills and further standardize the management rules and regulations, maintenance procedures, maintenance technical standards and the sequenced detection standards.
